2019-20 League Cup Semifinals: Manchester Derby, Leicester vs Aston Villa

DBasia.news –  The results of the 2019/2020 English League Cup semifinal draw was officially released on Thursday (12/19/2019) AM. Manchester derby was created from the draw. A total of four successful teams advanced to the semifinals, namely Leicester City, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Manchester United.

All four are Premier League teams. So, there are no surprises from teams from the lower division to present the phenomenon of giant killing (small teams defeating the giant teams) in the latest edition of the League Cup.

The semifinals will take place on a two leg system. In the first leg which will take place January 7, 2020, Man United will host first, as well as Leicester. Only in the second leg on January 28, 2020, Man City and Villa would became the host.

Man United advanced to the semifinals after eliminating a team from League Two, Colchester United, with a 3-0 score at Old Trafford with goals from Marcus Rashford (51 ‘), own goal by Ryan Jackson (56’), and Anthony Martial (61 ‘).

Villa defeated the Liverpool youth team under the care of U-23 coach, Neil Critchley. Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, allegedly took off the League Cup because of the tight schedule. Moreover, the Reds’ core team is currently in Qatar trying to win the Club World Cup title.
