3. Aaron Ramsey Has Been Named the Lost Player in Serie A

The Calcio Bidone award is one of the most avoided awards in the Italian Serie A. It was not an award as usual, but an award for players who were judged to have failed (flop).

It is given every year to ‘celebrate’ who is the most failed player who has performed the most disappointingly and did not live up to expectations. Ironically, two players from the top three Calcio Bidone play at Juventus.

As reported by Football-Italy, Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey tops Calcio Bidone with 2,686 votes. The choice was allegedly due to Ramsey having difficulty performing well since arriving from Arsenal in 2019.

Not only has he had problems with injuries, Ramsey’s fitness has never been excellent and this season he has only appeared for 112 minutes. There is no doubt that Juventus will sell the 31-year-old player.

While in third place is Ramsey’s teammate, Arthur Melo. The 25-year-old midfielder got 1,794 votes as the failed player in Serie A. This could not be separated from Arthur’s difficulties in performing well at Juventus.

Since arriving from Barcelona in 2020, with a tag of 76 million euros and being part of Aaron Ramsey’s transfer deal, Arthur has struggled to make regular appearances under the direction of Andrea Pirlo to Massimiliano Allegri.

Reportedly, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have agreed to pay his salary to join on loan. Now his fate is determined by Juventus who don’t want to let him go as long as they don’t find a replacement.

So who is the second-placed player? It was Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi who got 2,567 votes. Lazio signed him for 20 million euros from Fenerbahce in September 2020.

But until now the Kosovo national team player has only scored two goals in 48 matches with Lazio. Muriqi could not replace Ciro Immobile when he was injured, until Maurizio Sarri preferred to play Pedro or Felipe Anderson as a false nine.
