DBasia.news – The use of the San Siro as Atalanta’s home for Champions League matches raises pros and cons. When Atalanta players enthusiastically welcomed him, AC Milan fans and Inter Milan just refused.
Milan and Inter have blessed the use of the San Siro as Atalanta’s home in the 2019 Champions League. In response to the decision, Atalanta’s captain, Papu Gomez thanked Milan and Inter.
“Unfortunately, the Champions League cannot be played in our own stadium. Therefore, cheering on my colleagues, we want to thank Inter and Milan for welcoming us to their magnificent stadium,” Gomez said.
“It’s important for us not to travel far [in finding temporary pens], especially in tough competitions like this. We are proud to be able to play at the San Siro and we will do our best. Thank you very much.”
In contrast, Milan’s fanatical supporters who were members of the Curva Sud condemned the decision. They claimed to be offended if Atalanta used the 80,000 seat capacity stadium.
“For the sake of football that we love, such requests should be returned to Atalanta with laughter. The request offends us as Milan fans. San Siro is our home.”
The Curva Nord, Inter ultras, also voiced a similar message, “Options that are cruel, absurd, dictated by momentary interests, and trample logic.”
