DBasia.news – AC Milan won the Derby della Madonnina, the second volume of the 2021-2022 Serie A. The Rossoneri even silenced Inter Milan in a dramatic way.

In the match that took place at the Giuseppe Meazza, Sunday (6/2) morning WIB, Milan defeated Inter with a score of 2-1. Even though Stefano Pioli’s team fell behind first.

The match between the two teams did not appear balanced in the first half. Inter were able to dominate possession and confine Milan’s defense.

Unfortunately, Inter were only able to lead 1-0 until the first half was over. Ivan Perisic broke into Milan’s goal in the 38th minute.

After halftime, the game of the two teams changed drastically. Inter waited more, while Milan increased their aggressiveness.

The change in strategy actually benefitted Milan. Il Diavolo Rosso was able to reverse the position in just a short time.

Olivier Giroud equalized in the 75th minute. Three minutes later, the French striker pulled off a captivating individual action and ended with a powerful shot to beat Samir Handanovic.

In the remaining matches, Inter did not have much energy to equalize again. Milan also successfully defended their victory and cut the distance in the standings.

Pioli admitted his team played poorly in the first half. But he took advantage of the break to provide additional motivation.

At that moment, he tried to raise the confidence of the Milan players. He felt Franck Kessie and his team had too much respect for Inter during the first 45 minutes.

“It’s true Inter played better in the first half, but Milan has great courage and are not afraid of anyone. We took the game to a team that was superior in some areas and it wasn’t even our best period,” Pioli told DAZN after the game.

“We beat the best team in Serie A, the reigning champions and the leader of the table. So we proved ourselves.”

Even so, any kind of motivation will be meaningless without the right tactics. Pioli cleverly changed his team’s approach to match Inter’s play.

“Inter waited more after the break, they let us take the initiative. We need more fresh legs to shake things up and that is the job of Messias and Brahim Diaz,” he added.

I told the players that we have to keep believing in ourselves and obstacles are simply insurmountable for people who don’t believe in themselves.”
