AC Milan Have a Bad Record When Playing Home Games This Season

DBasia.news – AC Milan has one big thing behind the inconsistency of playing this season: a not-so-good home record in 2021. Because of that minor record Il Rossoneri are now fighting to the end in the Champions League battle zone.

Milan – currently in third place in the standings – will compete at Atalanta’s headquarters, Monday (24/05) early morning WIB in the final match of the 2020-2021 Serie A. Defeat or draw cannot be an option because Juventus trails by one point in the race for a place in the top four of the standings.

What has happened to Milan at this time is unique because they were candidates for the Scudetto and were consistent in the top two at the start of this season. The inconsistency in performance made their standings decline.

One of the decreases can be seen with the slump in Milan’s home performance since changing years. Quoted from Football-Italy Alessio Romagnoli et al have only won four times at the San Siro home match in 2021, namely against Torino, Genoa, Crotone and Benevento.

Milan’s points share is also much larger on the road with a record of 15 wins, two defeats, one draw from a total of 18 games (46 points). Meanwhile, of the 19 home matches, eight have resulted in wins, six draws and five defeats (30 points).

Threat of Player Exodus

If Milan fail to beat Atalanta and Juventus win against Bologna until Milan’s position is out of the Champions League zone, then there is the potential for an exodus of players to occur, especially the main goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper has never played in the Champions League in his professional career. If Milan fail to appear in the Champions League next season, it is not impossible that the Milan academy product will leave.

It can be seen from the contract that was not extended. Milan are offering a five-year contract with a salary of eight million euros per year, but Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola is asking for a salary of 10 million euros.
