AC Milan Prepares Players to Replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic

DBasia.news – AC Milan is currently at its peak due to the role of 39 year old striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Il Rossoneri are unbeaten in Serie A and are still firmly at the top of the standings.

The latest Milan win 3-1 over Napoli at San Paolo thanks to two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a goal from Jens Petter Hauge which was reduced by Dries Mertens. Milan are now at the top of the standings with 20 points, two points adrift of Sassuolo in second place.

Thanks to these two goals, Ibra became the top scorer in Serie A with 10 goals. The mentality he gives off affects Milan on and off the pitch, as well as his qualities as Europe’s top striker.

But now Milan must be prepared to play future matches without the Swedish striker. Ibrahimovic has a hamstring injury and will be out for the next 10 days, what’s worse is that there is a chance that Ibra will be out for up to a month.

No doubt in the closest matches Milan will not be strengthened by Ibra in the Europa League matches against Lille and Celtic, as well as the match against Fiorentina. If his recovery time is longer, Ibra will also be absent against Sampdoria, Parma, Genoa and Serie A runners-up Sassuolo.

AC Milan’s progress without Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be highly anticipated. That was the moment for Il Diavolo Rosso to show his game without depending on Ibrahimovic.

Substitute to Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Judging from the information from Football-Italy there are a number of options that Stefano Pioli can use to replace Ibrahimovic. Previously, Ibra had also been absent from defending Milan in two matches because of Covid-19.

A number of options include playing Rafael Leao, Ante Rebic, Daniel Maldini and Lorenzo Colombo as the spearhead of replacing Ibrahimovic. Maldini and Colombo are two young strikers who have recently been trusted by Pioli.

Leao was supposed to have a more active role as a winger lately with two goals and three assists, but his original position remains a central attacker. Even so with Rebic who contributed with Milan’s 11 goals in the second half of Milan’s second season last season.

Whoever Ibrahimovic’s successor, Milan face a huge test without him in a potential Scudetto race. A winning team can still score important points when key players are absent due to injury or card accumulation.
