AC Milan Try to Extend Gianluigi Donnarumma’s Contract

DBasia.news – AC Milan looks serious about offering Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract extension. The goalkeeper’s tenure at the San Siro will end at the end of this season.

As is known, Milan is being pressed for time to extend the contracts of a number of its stars which will expire. Donnarumma seems to be one of the most prioritized.

Donnarumma’s quality in guarding the goal is not in doubt. The departure of the 21-year-old player will be a big loss for Milan who are trying to get up.

According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, official negotiations for the extension of Donnarumma’s contract will begin next week. The Serie A transfer expert said the Rossoneri would make their first offer.

Even so, the negotiations for Donnarumma’s contract extension are predicted to be tough. This is because Milan are reluctant to agree to Donnarumma’s agent, Mino Raiola.

Raiola did demand an increase in salary for Donnarumma. In addition, he also wants a release clause in case Milan fail to appear in the Champions League.

Milan is rumored to be giving a contract duration of three to four years to Donnarumma. But they will only offer a salary of around 6 million euros per year in their initial bid.

This amount is the same as what Donnarumma is currently receiving. Raiola will most likely reject it.

Milan’s current bargaining position is actually strong enough to defend Donnarumma. The neat performance of Stefano Pioli’s team at the start of the 2020-2021 season is the cause.

Donnarumma will certainly be tempted to stay longer at the San Siro because Milan have the opportunity to return to its former glory. His status as an academy dropout player and Milanisti reinforces that.

However, Milan must be aware of the maneuvers from other top European clubs. Raiola’s figure can also be a barrier for both parties to continue their relationship.
