AC Milan want to sell Rafael Leao?

DBasia.news – Rafael Leao was linked to Chelsea during the summer transfer window and as AC Milan director, Paolo Maldini admits he is open to selling the player.

After helping the Rossoneri to the Serie A title last season, many clubs are interested in the 23-year-old forward who scored 14 goals throughout the 2021/22 campaign.

Interest came from Stamford Bridge, and Maldini admits that despite rejecting the incoming offer, it is possible that further proposals will turn up.

Milan legend Maldini, who is now a sporting director at the San Siro, told reporters at the Trento sporting event: “Have I turned down offers for Leao and Theo Hernandez? I said some of them [bidders] didn’t even show up.”

“The problem is then they come back, and then you have to decide what to do. In the context of the club, I admit that we have an order, and we don’t need to sell anyone. We wanted to keep the strongest, but today there wasn’t any other player who’s sales wasn’t reached.”

While Milan can keep the Portuguese player in the temptation of Premier League money, they are still worried that it can’t be done in the future as the player’s contract only has until 2024.

“Even teams at the bottom of the Premier League have a bigger budget than us, now it’s unsustainable,” added Maldini.
