DBasia.news – Liverpool have not been too active in the transfer market this summer. Nevertheless according to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could become the club’s new recruits if he continues to be fit throughout the season.
The Reds won their sixth title in the Champions League when they won last season. But, the Liverpool squad is not without problems as some of their players are constrained by injuries. Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of them.
The 25-year-old British player is seriously injured in April 2018 and requires approximately a year to undergo a recovery period. The former Arsenal player has recovered last season, however, hasn’t been too fit to play and Klopp had to reduce his play time.
Now, Oxlade-Chamberlain returns to training normally. Klopp hopes the Southampton academy product will be able to maintain fitness with other players such as: Rhian Brewster, Joe Gomez and Adam Lallana.
“If Ox can stay fit – it’s like he is a new player for us. Rhian (Brewster) is the same – he’s a very big talent. We really look forward to him in the training session. That will fill an important role for us: we are planning an important role for him. To become a new player, “Klopp said on Goal.
“Joe Gomez is also a new player. Adam Lallana, a new player. After many problems last season, if they can be really fit then there will be a difference for the team compared to last season, as there is actual quality. That’s cool,” he concluded.
So far, Liverpool have only recruited one player from PEC Zwolle, the 17-year-old center back, Sepp van den Berg, for £ 1.3 million which can increase to £ 4.4 million depending on other variables.
