All French Games Officially Canceled

DBasia.news –  The French League Agency (LFP) has officially suspended all French League competitions until an undetermined time. This decision was taken after an impromptu meeting on Friday (3/13) morning local time.

Previously, the French Football Association (FFF) had already announced the suspension of the semi-professional competition and the Women’s Football League until an undetermined time. Now, LFP follows the FFF steps after having insisted on holding a closed game.

“After the announcement from the President of France regarding the crisis caused by the Covid-19 virus, the LFP council agreed to suspend Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 until further notice,” wrote the LFP’s full statement.

“In accordance with instructions from the President, public health and safety are priorities. Now, we will try to minimize the impact caused by closing public places and restricting travel. “

“The LFP Council will only meet again after UEFA holds an emergency meeting on March 17th.”

The French League is the sixth major competition suspended due to the Covid-19 virus. Previously, the Italian League, Spanish League, English League, Champions League and Europa League had also been officially suspended to minimize the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Not only that, the European Football Association (UEFA) is also considering a decision to postpone the Euro 2020 event. UEFA itself will only hold an emergency meeting on March 17 to discuss the discourse of postponing the Euro 2020 event.
