Allegri Wasn’t Regret Refusing Real Madrid
By news-admin
DBasia.news – Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri admitted that he won’t regret refusing Real Madrid’s offer. Allegri believed the decision is right.
Allegri was nominated as the candidate of Real Madrid’s new coach after the exit of Zinedine Zidane. Los Blanco high-official assumed Allegri as the right successor of Zidane.
However, Allegri refused that offer and stayed in Juventus. The situation made Real Madrid appointed Julen Lopetegui as the new coach.
Allegri insisted the refusal was due to his commitment with Juventus. The 50-year-old coach promised to La Vecchia Signora’s president.
“I said ‘no’ to Real Madrid because I made a commitment with the president,” he told Stile Mese magazine.
“Therefore, my maximum respect for Juventus and given word were why I rejected the call of Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world and the dream for every coach.”
“I’d be a hypocrite if I said I wasn’t honored by their consideration, but I’m absolutely convinced that I made the right decision,” Allegri added.
The decision made Allegri compared to Juventus’ legends. But, the former AC Milan player chose to be humble.
“Am I a ‘bandiera’ like Buffon or Del Piero? I absolutely don’t want to be equated with them because they’re players who wrote Juventus’ history, whereas I’ve only been here for four years,” Allegri said.
