Almost Making a Fatal Mistake, Dejan Lovren infurated Liverpool Legend

DBasia.news – Dejan Lovren almost made a fatal mistake in the Merseyside Derby match against Everton. This has made the Reds legend, Jamie Carragher furious.

Lovren was played as a substitute when Liverpool were held to a Everton 0-0 draw at Goodison Park on Monday (6/22/2020) AM. The 30-year-old defender came in to replace Joel Matip in the 73rd minute.

Lovren’s action on the field almost made the Reds conceded in the 81st minute. He fell twice due to losing a duel with Richarlison, which made the Everton striker able to enter the Liverpool penalty box and fired a shot that was still able to be contained by Alisson Becker.

Lovren’s failure to anticipate Richarlison’s move received Carragher’s attention. The man who now works as a pundit is firmly unimpressed with the appearance of the Croatian international defender.

According to Carragher, Lovren played too emotionally in that match and made his team’s defense loose. As a result, Everton took advantage of the gap and continued to launch attacks towards Lovren.

‘He [Lovren] is too emotional, that’s the problem. “He always feels that he must win the fight, must excel in every challenge,” said Carragher, as quoted by Omnisport.

“I used to play in his position as a central defender and at times I was like that, you have to admit that other people can be stronger or faster. You have to understand that position and try to hold it back,” Carragher added.

“I told you before that they put the ball too often in front of Virgil van Dijk, but when Lovren came in they found the gap and it was there that was the target. Everton could get the fun out of it,” he continued.

For Lovren, this is not the first time for him to be the target of criticism for his poor performance on the field. A number of Liverpool fans has accused him of often endangering the team because of his blunders.
