DBasia.news – Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana has spoken about his future. The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Italian giants, Inter Milan.
Inter Milan are looking for a successor to Samir Handanovic, whose form has begun to decline. On several occasions, especially the last two seasons, the former Udinese goalkeeper often made blunders that led to goals for the opponent. In addition, Handanovic is considered often slow in responding.
Handanovic’s age, who is 37 years old, is also another consideration. Not to mention the goalkeeper’s contract which will expire in the summer of 2022.
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan are looking for Andre Onana to replace Handanovic. The ex-Barcelona contract will expire in the summer of 2022. That means, Inter can obtain Onana on a free transfer.
Currently, Onana is serving a ban due to a doping case. He can only play on November 4. In the investigation of the case, Onana was stated to have used doping because of the mistake of taking the drug used by his wife.
Andre Onana did not rule out all the possibilities regarding his future. Although, he did not specifically mention Inter Milan.
“Last summer there was an opportunity to play in France. I spoke with Olympique Lyon and Nice. However, we did not reach an agreement,” Onana told De Telegraaf.
“Termination clause? Everything is negotiable. I’m still open to the hypothesis of a new contract,” continued the goalkeeper.
Andre Onana’s talent was discovered by Samuel Eto’o Academy before getting the chance to head to La Masia. Then, in 2015, the 25-year-old goalkeeper left for Ajax Amsterdam. So far, from 142 appearances in the Eredivisie, Onana has recorded 60 clean sheets.
