Andrea Pirlo: Juventus Don’t Need to Be Slapped in the Face to Wake Up
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo, regretted the draw he got in the match against Hellas Verona. Pirlo thinks Juventus need to be slapped in the face in order to respond well.
Juventus fell behind first through Andrea Favilli’s goal in the 60th minute. The goal jolted the Bianconeri and launched many attacks.
Finally, Juve were able to equalize in the 77th minute. Dejan Kulusevski stabs before firing a shot into the corner of the net.
Andrea Pirlo considered, Juventus did not perform well. Juve’s game only improved after falling behind.
“We were not aggressive enough in the first half. We waited for them, but did not create chances,” Pirlo told Sky Sports Italia.
“We reacted well after taking the lead. However, we shouldn’t need a slap in the face to get up and play with intensity,” he added.
“When you play Verona or Atalanta it’s difficult because they take you all over the pitch and create a lot of duels. We worked to avoid their high pressure and worked better in the second half. It was difficult against them. We could have done better.”
Pirlo realizes Verona has the ability to surprise. Moreover, the Verona players are used to playing with high pressure.
“Arthur controlled the ball very well and lasted 90 minutes. However, he can still improve, as everyone can do,” said Pirlo.
“We know it will be more difficult than in Kiev because Verona has a high intensity. We train the pressure and handle situations one on one.”
The draw leaves Juventus in fifth place in the standings with nine points. Meanwhile, Verona are in eighth place.
