Andrea Pirlo, the Maestro who has now become Juventus’ Coach
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Maurizio Sarri was officially fired by Juventus. He was considered a failure as he was unable to bring Juventus to the Champions League quarter-finals after losing to Olympique Lyon in the top 16 last week. Additionally, Juventus lost both the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup this season.
A number of names had emerged as candidates for the new Juventus coach. Famous names such as Zinedine Zidane, Mauricio Pochettino, to Simone Inzaghi.
But I Bianconeri had decided to choose Andrea Pirlo. It could be said that Juventus is gambling by choosing Pirlo, who was recently given the position of manager of the Juventus U-23 team.
The 41 year old former game manager has no experience as a coach. Pirlo even only served nine days as coach of the U-23 team.
Even so, Pirlo’s appointment as coach received a warm welcome from many parties. Including the players who will be his players.
Juventus revealed the reasons behind the decision to appoint Pirlo as coach to replace Sarri.
“Today’s choice is based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to be a leader from his debut in the chairmanship of a squad of quality and talent to pursue new success,” wrote an official statement from Juventus.
“Today begins a new chapter in his career in the world of football, as was said almost a week ago from Maestro to Mister.”
Juventus hopes Pirlo can follow in the footsteps of Zinedine Zidane, another former world top player who immediately achieved success as coach of Real Madrid despite having no previous experience in handling teams at senior level.
Like Zidane, Pirlo will also face enormous expectations. As is well known, at Juventus to win the Serie A title is an obligation. In addition, of course, Pirlo is required to realize the ambition of the Old Lady to win the Champions League title after nearly a quarter century of failure.
