Andriy Lunin Heads to Real Valladolid to Play More

Andriy Lunin

DBasia.news –  Real Madrid goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, revealed the reason for moving from Madrid to Real Valladolid on loan for one season. Lunin just wanted to play a lot.

The 20-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper has given up on convincing Zinedine Zidane, Madrid’s coach, through the 2019 pre-season tour. For the sake of being able to play more to hone the flight hours, Lunin accepted an offer to join Valladolid.

“I am physically fine after the preseason. The coach (Zinedine Zidane) determines who stays and who does not,” Lunin said, as reported by Marca.

“I have done everything to show my level in this preseason, but for me it is important to play (a lot) and therefore I am happy here (Valladolid). I want to thank Real Valladolid,” he added.

Last season, Lunin was loaned to Leganes. Despite his good performances there, Mauricio Pellegrino, coach of Leganes, did not rely too much on him until he returned to Madrid.

The 2019 U-20 World Cup winner left Madrid as he could not compete with two experienced and qualified goalkeepers, Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas.
