DBasia.news – Antonio Conte’s coaching career has only been a short time with Tottenham Hotspur. However, there is unfortunate news regarding him that links him to another club, the club is PSG (Paris Saint-Germain).
As published by French media, Le Parisien, Conte has a desire to replace Mauricio Pochettino in the summer of 2022. Conte reportedly asked PSG management for the position.
Conte is one of the candidates for PSG’s coach to replace Pochettino besides Zinedine Zidane. PSG is allegedly still considering the option to change coaches after the failure in the Champions League.
PSG were eliminated by Real Madrid in the last 16 when they were already ahead on aggregate, and were in control of the match. PSG management is believed to have given extra attention to Pochettino, even if PSG win Ligue 1 at the end of this season.
Conte also only briefly coached Tottenham replacing Nuno Espirito Santo last November. Since then Conte has coached 30 games across all competitions with a record: 17 wins, three draws and 10 defeats.
In the Pemier League he has a record of 1.91 points per game from 22 matches and is trying to help Tottenham finish in the top four. The 52-year-old coach is known as a tactician who has high demands on players and also targets the club.
This gave him success when he coached Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan. That situation did not get him at Tottenham even though the club had already given him two new players in January 2022, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.
Indications of his departure was evident some time ago, when Conte was frustrated at Tottenham’s minor period and admitted he was not used to the current situation.
“I came here to help the club. If the problem is the coach, I am willing to leave. No problem,” Conte said some time ago.
“I’m not used to this situation. I tried everything, but the situation hasn’t changed. I’m willing to be open with the club to do what it wants.”
“I want to help the club. I work very hard. I give 20 hours a day for Tottenham and another four hours to sleep. However, it is not enough,” added Conte.
