Tottenham visited Arsenal’s headquarters in the eighth week of the 2022-2023 Premier League match, at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (1/10). In the first half, Tottenham gave a fierce resistance to Arsenal.
Both teams entered the dugout with the score 1-1. However, things turned 3-1 away in the second half after Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka scored.
Speaking after the match, Antonio Conte regretted what happened in the first half. According to him, Tottenham had many opportunities to gain goals.
“It’s a tough day because in the first half we felt the possibility to win the game. We had the possibility to finish the game in the first half. In a game like this, we have to be clinical,” said Conte on the official Tottenham Hotspur website.
“I repeat, if you have to complain about something, it’s the first half. In my opinion, we had a lot of chances and made a mistake in the last pass. We have to be disappointed for that reason.”
Antonio Conte felt his team’s red card made the match even more challenging. Therefore, Tottenham’s attack slackened.
“Every time we hold the ball and deal with pressure, we can hurt them. On the contrary, we keep them alive. Then, we conceded in the second half,” added the former Inter Milan coach.
The victory has increasingly made Arsenal firmly be at the top of the standings with 21 points. Meanwhile, Tottenham collected 17 points from 8 matches.
