DBasia.news – Chelsea did not want to let Antonio Rudiger go to rival Tottenham Hotspur, the Blues preferred to let him go to Italy.
Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard doesn’t seem to need Rudiger’s power to face the 2020-2021 season. So far, the German defender has not been given the opportunity to compete.
Rudiger was unable to compete with names such as Fikayo Tomori, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, and Thiago Silva. Moving is the best option for the 27 year old player.
Tottenham became one of Rudiger’s serious enthusiasts. The Lilywhites does need a new defender to replace Jan Vertonghen.
Apart from Tottenham, Rudiger is also in demand by AC Milan and AS Roma. The two Serie A clubs does need a new center-back.
Reporting from The Athletic, Rudiger prefers to keep a career in the Premier League. Therefore he asked Chelsea to allow him to move to Tottenham.
Unfortunately, Lampard did not agree to this. He is certainly unwilling to provide additional strength to one of his rival teams.
Meanwhile from Italy, Milan’s chances of getting Rudiger are greater than Roma. Il Giallorossi still hopes to borrow Chris Smalling from Manchester United.
Rudiger’s move seems to have a domino effect in the transfer market. A number of other defenders are also likely to change clubs along with the transfer of the former Stuttgart player.
Rudiger is actually Tottenham’s alternative target. Initially the club from North London has targeted Milan Skriniar.
But the high price set by Inter Milan as the club that owns Skriniar has made Tottenham think twice. Rudiger is certainly a more sensible choice than the Slovak defender.
