DBasia.news – The Egyptian Football Association has confirmed that Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has been tested positive for the coronavirus after testing ahead of his African Nations Cup Qualifying match against Togo.
“Swab tests among the national team’s main squad showed Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star, infected with the coronavirus after testing positive,” said a statement from the Egyptian football association.
“The player concerned is known to be not showing any symptoms. The rest of the team are all negative. Salah will undergo medical protocol after the team doctor coordinates with the club. Apart from being quarantined he is also prohibited from making contact with other people,” continued the same statement.
The Egyptian Football Association also said it would carry out further tests. A few days ago, Salah was seen attending the wedding of his brother, Nasr, in Cairo.
Salah’s infection has been a more serious blow to Liverpool, who have been hit by a player crisis following the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the rest of the season.
In addition, the versatile Fabinho is also on the sidelines and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has a new injury ahead of the international break.
Not to mention that previously there was also news about the possibility that Alisson and Roberto Firmino would also have to undergo isolation for 14 days following their colleagues in the Brazilian national team positive for COVID-19.
