Arsenal Can Trouble Tottenham in the Europa League if They Win the FA Cup

DBasia.news – North London’s rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could heat up.

The reason is Tottenham Hotspur will be faced with a longer agenda in the Europa League if Arsenal manage to bend Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday (1/8).  Yes, whether or not Arsenal succeed in winning the oldest tournament will have a direct impact on Tottenham’s schedule in the Europa League.

With three Premier League clubs qualifying for the Europa League, meaning Arsenal or Wolverhampton Wanderers will accompany Spurs and Leicester City.  Seeing the rules, FA Cup winners or sixth-ranked occupants will immediately qualify for the group phase with Leicester.

This means that there will be bad luck because you have to go through the qualification stage, which also means you have to play three more matches to enter the group phase.

If Arsenal win, they will displace Wolves, while sending Tottenham to the qualifying stage which begins September 17.  In other words Spurs had to compete only five days after the 2020-21 Premier League season opened.

But Tottenham are still fortunate because in the qualification round the superior system has been put in place.  This means that Jose Mourinho’s troops will not meet with clubs like AC Milan or Wolfsburg.

Tottenham’s agenda in the Europa League:

If Arsenal win the FA Cup

 – Second Qualification Round: 17 September

 – Third Qualification Round: September 24

 – Playoffs: October 1st

If Arsenal fail to win the FA Cup

 – Jump to the group phase: October 22.
