Arsenal Officially Fires Unai Emery, Former Player of the Gunners Appointed as a Substitute

DBasia.news –  Arsenal dismissed Unai Emery of his position as head coach of the club nicknamed the Gunners. Arsenal announced the official decision to sack Unai Emery on Friday (11/29/2019).

The Spanish coach was fired as he was unable to raise the club’s achievements this season. Moreover, Emery failed to bring Arsenal to win in the last 7 matches in all competitions.

What’s more, Emery was fired by club officials from his post just hours after the Gunners lost at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Friday morning (11/29/2019).

As a substitute, the club also appointed their legend, Freddie Ljungberg as head coach. Ljungberg is a temporary manager.

“We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as temporary head coach. We have full faith in Freddie to carry us forward, “wrote the club statement.

Furthermore, the Gunners themselves have stated that they would still be looking for a new head coach for some time to come.

“The search for a new head coach is ongoing and we will make further announcements when the process is complete,” the club continued.

Freddie Ljungberg himself has previously handled the Arsenal U-23 team and assistant to Unai Emery since 2018. The 42-year-old man will start accompanying the team when the Gunners travel to the headquarters of Norwich City on December 1.
