DBasia.news – In the midst of the 2020 European Cup, European clubs are strengthening their teams to compete in the 2021-2022 season. One of them is Arsenal made by Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners do not participate in European competition next season and are fully focused on playing in the league, even though the failure from last season is an evaluation material to add strength to next season.
One sector that wants to be strengthened is the back line. David Luiz has decided to leave and they have also been left by Shkodran Mustafi, while Konstantinos Mavropanos could have a permanent move to Stuttgart.
Mavropanos reportedly will be permanent Stuttgart for seven million pounds. Arsenal began looking for ways to strengthen their back line and made England defender Ben White a target.
Arsenal have reportedly made their first offer to Brighton & Hove Albion of £40 million. However, Brighton rejected the offer.
Brighton assess the price of the 23-year-old defender is in the range of 50 million pounds, 10 million less than Arsenal’s offer. Arsenal’s negotiations with Brighton are predicted to continue.
Revenge to Aston Villa
It’s not just about recruiting Arsenal players, it’s also trying to keep mainstay players, or talented young people who are the backbone of the team in the future. It’s not easy to do that considering Arsenal are not playing in Europe this season.
That assertiveness has been seen with a blatant rejection of Aston Villa who made an offer for Arsenal’s academy product, Emile Smith Rowe. Arsenal rejected it because they believed the player could sign a new contract at the club.
Villa came with an offer of 25 million pounds and Arsenal turned it down, because Smith Rowe was not sold by Arsenal. The 20-year-old’s contract runs until 2023.
Arsenal’s refusal was also seen as ‘revenge’ because Villa managed to overtake them in the hunt for Argentine playmaker Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City.
