DBasia.news – Arsene Wenger feels like he’s back in kindergarten when he has to respond to the behavior and words of Jose Mourinho. He called Mourinho a permanent provocateur.
The feud between Wenger and Mourinho was sparked again after the legendary Arsenal manager launched his autobiographical book entitled “My Life in Red and White”, which tells of his career in England with the Gunners.
In the book, Wenger wrote a number of his rivalries with a number of managers such as Sir Alex Ferguson. However, Wenger did not include Mourinho’s name at all, even though the two have often been involved in arguments in the past.
Asked about his absence in Wenger’s autobiography, Mourinho gave a striking comment, “You are not going to write a chapter on a record 12-14 games never won [against me]. So why did he write me in his book. Books are something that makes you happy and proud. So I understand the situation.”
Wenger, of course, was unimpressed by the Tottenham Hotspur manager’s statement and responded.
“That comment doesn’t bother me,” Wenger told Canal+.
“It was a form of permanent provocation from him. Every time [clashed] with him, I felt like a kindergarten boy. But that’s his character.”
“That statement is also wrong. We have beaten him twice. We won and there were also many draws.”
“And there is no ‘you’ in a win, there is ‘us’. Because a manager is only part of a win and he is in charge of bringing out the best potential of a team,” he explained.
During his two decades career in England, Wenger successfully transformed Arsenal into a top team, with a number of prestigious achievements such as three English Premier League titles, seven FA Cups, and the Champions League runners-up.
This success had made Real Madrid interested in signing him, but Wenger admitted that he refused. “Yes, I rejected them twice. But I have to do it because we are building a stadium and we have to pay.”
