AS Roma Loses 0-1 to Torino despite Releasing 31 Kicks

DBasia.news –  Torino defeated AS Roma in the continuation of Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico. Worse yet, Roma released 31 attempted kicks in that match.

Logically, with a total of 31 total kick attempts and seven on target, there are at least one or two goals created. But thanks to the toughness of Salvatore Sirigu and the sturdy Torino back line, Roma were frustrated until they lost 0-2 on Monday (06/01) early morning Western Indonesian Time.

Andrea Belotti scored twice in 45 + 2′ and penalty in 86 minutes. Two of the six kicks on target, plus 12 attempted kicks, Torino scored a goal. The landing team Walter Mazzarri played efficiently.

“I had predicted Torino would play like this, be defensive and rely on counterattacks, so it wasn’t a surprise anymore,” Paulo Fonseca, Roma coach told DAZN.

Bad luck is also one of the factors Rome’s difficulty breaking through Torino. This was admitted by Fonseca, who was pessimistic that his team could score even if playing the match for more than 90 minutes in normal time.

“That (defeat) did not occur because of an attitude problem, because the team did a lot of good things, including 31 attempted kicks, but the ball didn’t want to go into the goal,” added Fonseca.

“I don’t think our performance was good, but we created opportunities to score goals.”

“We had difficulty building attacks from behind, but still created three chances to score in the first seven minutes and one of them (if it bears a goal) could change the match.”

“In the second half, we fixed several things and improved. I think we could have played 90 minutes tonight and still didn’t score,” concluded the former Shakhtar Donetsk coach.
