One place in the other final was sealed by City. The Citizens escaped after overcoming the resistance of city rivals, Manchester United, in the last four.
Pep Guardiola’s squad were 3-1 ahead in the first leg which took place at Old Trafford. MU replied with a 1-0 victory in the second leg, but City were entitled to advance to the final match with a 3-2 aggregate advantage.
