Atalanta’s preparation is minimal, Gian Gasperini is worried

DBasia.news – Atalanta coach, Gian Piero Gasperini is worried about the lack of time ahead of the 2020-2021 Serie A season. According to him, just getting started was challenging enough. La Dea finished fourth in 2019-20 and qualified for the Champions League for the second time in a row.

Gasperini’s team stunned in Europe last season, reaching the quarter-finals of the competition, but the coach is concerned that the team will not have the time needed to prepare for 2020-21.

“What worries me the most is not the calendar, but the lack of time,” Gasperini said as quoted by Football Italia, Thursday (3/9).

According to him, the team’s training time was quite short. In fact, he said, if Atalanta started the 2020-21 season campaign on September 26, they would face difficult opponents at the start.

“The start was very challenging, the first three away games against Lazio, Torino and Napoli, with Cagliari being the first at home, three of the four games which were difficult,” he stated.

“After the fourth day, the Champions League starts too. It seems like a long way, but only a few weeks to go. When you enter that period, things must have been done beforehand to be ready and play with great continuity,” he explained.
