Back to strengthening Chelsea, Lukaku might not fit into the Premier League style of play

DBasia.news – Chelsea are getting closer to bringing in their former striker to Stamford Bridge, Romelu Lukaku. The development of the news is getting closer to reality in the summer transfer market.

The latest news from Fabrizio Romano, European football transfer expert, said that it was only a matter of time before Lukaku was introduced as a new Chelsea player with a transfer deal of 115 million euros.

“Romelu Lukaku’s deal will be finalized, signed and announced this week. Chelsea are working on the final paperwork with Inter, the time for a medical test and then he will be officially introduced as Chelsea’s new striker. A fee of 115 million euros is confirmed,” said Romano.

“Romelu Lukaku had just completed the main part of his medical test as a new Chelsea player this morning in Milano. It’s 100% confirmed. Romelu’s side are now planning together with Chelsea for this week’s London flight. A deal will be announced in the next few days.”

Lukaku (28 years old) has played in England from mid 2011-2019 with Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion, Everton and Manchester United. His career is relatively successful in the Premier League when compared to the success of winning the Scudetto last season with Inter Milan.

Premier League’s Fast Tempo

Former Liverpool defender turned football pundit, Glen Johnson, actually contradicts Chelsea’s desire to recruit Lukaku back. According to him, Lukaku is too slow for the fast tempo of the Premier League game.

“Honestly, I’m not so sure the Premier League suits Lukaku,” Johnson said aas quoted by Marca.

“Obviously he’s a big, strong, physically strong player but I just think the Premier League is a bit too fast for him.”

“So no, I don’t want to see him come back. But in certain leagues, he will score goals, albeit at a slightly slower pace.”

Lukaku has played at Inter from 2019 and has scored 42 goals in 74 appearances. Meanwhile, Chelsea signed him because Thomas Tuchel’s team lost Olivier Giroud to AC Milan, plus the potential to release Tammy Abraham, while Timo Werner is not a top scorer.
