Back to the Premier Leagues, Leeds United Breaks Transfer Record to Recruit Rodrigo

DBasia.news – Leeds United showed their seriousness to compete in the 2019/2020 Premier League. They recruited Spanish national team striker, Rodrigo Moreno.

“Leeds United are pleased to announce the recruitment of Rodrigo Moreno Machado from Valencia with a club record transfer,” wrote a statement posted on the official Leeds United website.

“The 29-year-old player, who can operate as a winger or forward, has completed medical tests and signed a four-year contract with The Whites, expiring until the summer of 2024.”

It was not stated how much it cost Leeds that broke the club transfer record. However, it was reported by Teamtalk, Leeds allegedly spent a total of 29 million euros. This success is proof of Leeds’ struggle.

On Tuesday, Leeds director, Victor Orta and Leeds President, Andrea Radzzani left for Spain to complete the transfer of Rodrigo Moreno.

“He (Rodrigo Moreno) is the most expensive player in our history,” said Orta to Plaza Deportiva.

“I want to thank the club, Rodrigo’s father and his players. They have trusted us from the start. We have the ambition to improve and we have to thank Valencia, they have behaved well.”

“Hopefully the documentation is complete. For us, this is a strategic recruitment to stabilize ourselves in the Premier League,” added Orta.

Rodrigo (29 years old) has recorded 22 caps and eight goals for the Spanish national team. Since playing for Valencia from 2014 Rodrigo has scored 59 goals in 220 games and helped the club win the Copa del Rey in the 2018-2019 season.

The Brazilian striker is able to provide experience for Leeds’ front lines. Apart from Rodrigo, it is reported that another player who will follow him is Robin Koch who defends Freiburg.

“Valencia would like to thank Rodrigo Moreno for his commitment and hard work over the past six seasons. We wish him all the best at this new stage of his career with Leeds United,” wrote a statement from Valencia.
