Barcelona Activates Antoine Griezmann’s Purchase Clause

Antoine Griezmann

DBasia.news –  Atletico Madrid striker, Antoine Griezmann, has decided to leave the club which he has strengthened from 2014. Griezmann, reportedly, is getting closer to Barcelona.

Blaugrana became the closest club to recruit him. However, news emerged that players in Barca’s locker room refused Griezmann as he canceled his intention to Barcelona last season.

Not to mention Enrique Cerezo, President Atletico, confirmed there was no offer to purchase Griezmann. In fact, the 28-year-old player is closer to PSG (Paris Saint-Germain).

When Griezmann was rumored to head to PSG, Neymar was rumored to be returning to Barcelona and had reached a personal agreement. However, there is the latest development from renowned British media, the Telegraph, which believes that Griezmann is more inclined to Barcelona.

The Catalunya club will redeem the purchase clause of the 2018 world champion with the French national team as of July 1, 2019. Griezmann has a purchase clause of 120 million euros, 107 million pounds, or Rp. 1 trillion.

Believed by the Telegraph, Griezmann was supposed to have agreed to head to Barcelona two months ago, but, Atletico only released him according to the player’s purchase clause. Barca’s management agreed to Atletico’s terms.

If Griezmann had really come to Camp Nou, then it was unlikely that Neymar would return to Barcelona. Because, in addition to PSG not receiving money less than 222 million euros, the world transfer record when brought in two years ago, Barca also had to release several players.

Barca will not violate the FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules. If they wanted to recruit Griezmann and Neymar at the same time, then there is the potential of Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic, several players with high prices sold in the transfer market.

Griezmann’s chance to head to Barcelona: 80%

Considering the Telegraph who revealed the news, there was a big chance for Griezmann to head to Barcelona. Now everything will depend on further negotiations from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
