Barcelona ask Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets to cut their salary

DBasia.news – Barcelona have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this summer, and they have already brought in Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde.

However, the problem they will face is: will Barca be able to register these five new players?

Barca’s financial situation is indeed unstable, but from the sale of TV rights and Barca Studios, the Catalans were able to earn 767 million euros, and they can use that to continue to bring in new players.

However, Financial Fair Play (FFP) and Salary Cap are issues that must be resolved by Barca as they would most likely not be able to register the new player.

One way they do it is to cut the salaries of existing players. Previously, they had asked Frenkie de Jong to reduce some of his salary, but the Netherlands international refused.

And now, Barca have reportedly asked Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets to reduce their salaries.

According to Sport, the Blaugrana have met with Busquets and Pique’s agents to discuss reducing their salaries.

In fact, both Pique and Busquets both took pay cuts in the summer of last year in order to reduce their spending on player salaries and to comply with La Liga rules.

Several other players have had their wages reduced by Barca since last year, and Ousmane Dembele is the latest after he agreed to sign a new contract at Camp Nou.
