DBasia.news – Barcelona, according to TNT Sports, has made Marcelo Gallardo as the first candidate to replace Ernesto Valverde.
Valverde’s current position is threatened following a series of minor results, poor defense, and team play that has not been convincing, although club officials have given Frenkie de Jong, Antoine Griezmann, Junior Firpo, and Neto this season.
Barca’s inconsistency can be seen from the number of two defeats and one draw from seven LaLiga matches this season. Naturally, the #ValverdeOut call has already begun by fans following the series of minor results.
Barcelona, reportedly, has prepared a replacement candidate if he fired the former Athletic Bilbao coach. Marcelo Gallardo, who is also in demand by AS Monaco and PSG (Paris Saint-Germain), is a strong candidate to replace Valverde.
That was expressed by TNT Sports journalist Fernando Czyz. Reportedly, Czyz also believes there has been a conversation between Gallardo and Barcelona’s board of directors. But, do not want to talk to River because they are still playing in the Copa Libertadores.
It will not be easy for Barca to recruit Gallardo, because the 43-year-old coach has a contract until 2021 at River Plate. Nevertheless, Gallardo’s performance deserves appreciation for five years at River Plate.
Gallardo and Gerardo “Tata” Martino
Within five years, Gallardo has won three Recopa Sudamericana titles, two Copa Libertadores, one Copa Sudamericana, one Suruga Bank Championship, two Copa Argentina, and one Supercopa Argentina.
If Gallardo goes to Barcelona he will follow in the footsteps of Gerardo Martino, the Argentina coach, who used to refine Barca in the 2013-14 season. Martino only worked for one season before being fired by the team.
Gallardo’s performance in the last five years has indeed been in the spotlight of European clubs. No doubt it’s only a matter of time until the former Monaco and PSG player coaches a European club.
