DBasia.news – Barcelona players finally willing to cut their salaries by 70 percent to help their club who are having crisis due to the corona virus outbreak.
In a statement on the club’s social media account, Lionel Messi explained that the decision was a little bit late because players were still looking for the right solution to help the club.
“Previously, we wanted to explain that we are always willing to reduce salaries. Because we fully understand that we are all in an extraordinary situation. We, as players, are always ready to help the club if needed,” Messi wrote as reported by BBC Sport.
In his statement Messi also revealed that the players understood if there were parties who tried to corner the players and press them to do something.
“If we are only speaking at this time, it is because we are looking for solutions on how to help the club and see who is most affected during this situation,” Messi continued.
“From us, this is the right time. Withholding salaries by 70 percent during times of danger. We will also help the club to be able to pay workers full wages of 100 percent.”
Few days before, there have been many soccer clubs that have decided to cut players’ salaries. Even the Juventus players and their coach Maurizio Sarri agreed not to receive their salary for four months.
