Barcelona President’s Ultimatum to Ronald Koeman: I’m Ready to Make a Decision!

DBasia.news – An ultimatum was given by Joan Laporta to Ronald Koeman. The Barcelona president indicated he would not hesitate to fire Koeman if El Blaugrana continued to fall.

Messi’s departure occurred because of Barcelona’s financial difficulties who recruited free players such as Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and on the deadline released Antoine Griezmann to reduce player salary expenses (replacing him with Luuk de Jong).

After the transfer, Barcelona is now hot from the internal side because they are reportedly looking for the right moment to fire the coach, Ronald Koeman. The Dutch coach is rumored to be sacked following Barcelona’s minor results.

After losing 0-3 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the Blaugrana failed to win twice in a row in LaLiga against teams they could have beaten, namely Granada (0-0) and Cadiz (1-1).

The match against Cadiz took place recently at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, Friday (24/09). Barca could only release two shots on target with 69 percent possession.

Worse yet, the referee gave two red cards for Barcelona to Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Koeman. Koeman’s position is getting hotter with the news that Barca are preparing Roberto Martinez as his successor.

Recently, Koeman and Barca president Joan Laporta exchanged words with each other through the media. Responding to the issue of Koeman’s dismissal, Laporta emphasized that the directors are not afraid to make decisions. But for now Barca still support Koeman to continue his work.

“We are responsible for managing the club,” Laporta told El Chiringuito. “We have more information in terms of making decisions and we have to consider everything more.”

“It doesn’t matter for us to make a decision in any form, and if we have to take it at a certain time, we will take it, (whether it be economically, sporting or socially).”

“We are behind the coach. (Koeman) is the coach of the Barcelona first team and what we want is for everything to go well for him.”

“The coaches, not only Koeman, depend a lot on their results and in Barcelona’s case, (they are judged) every game. But Koeman is our coach and we are behind him now.”

Koeman now has time to revive Barca’s form before the October international break, against Levante (26/09), Benfica (30/09) and Atletico Madrid (03/10).
