DBasia.news – LaLiga President Javier Tebas insists on continuing the idea to conduct the 2018-2019 LaLiga matches abroad, in the US.
There are many parties rejecting the idea, from the RFEF, Association of Spanish Footballers, and FIFA. But, Tebas insists on his decision to conduct one LaLiga match in the US. It’s planned that he would conduct the Catalonian Derby match between FC Barcelona against Girona on January.
The match was scheduled in Miami. But FC Barcelona withdrew.
“FC Barcelona was and is willing to move to Miami to play a league game, and accepted that the benefits were shared out between all the clubs of the first and second division, following the same criterion of distribution as in the television rights,” it explained.
“But it considers that until an agreement is reached between all the agents involved, this project will not be able to prosper.”
Then, would LaLiga agree and cancel their plan? Not necessarily.
LaLiga’s Insistent
“We regret to disappoint our fans in the U.S. and will work to, in the shortest possible time, stage an official La Liga game in the U.S., just like the major American leagues stage games outside their borders,” a La Liga statement said.
“La Liga will continue the planned action, so an official league game can be played outside of Spain. La Liga is convinced that the RFEF is not acting in accordance with the law,” the statement continued.
We have no idea what would LaLiga do to conduct the match in the US. Their stubborn idea to conduct the match abroad is unique considering the tight schedule.
Barcelona lead the LaLiga table. But the contenders like Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid might replace them. Tebas’ idea is unique.
If he wants to develop LaLiga to compete with other top leagues in Europe, LaLiga is now more exciting than the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, or Ligue 1.
