Barcelona’s squad salary cuts negotiations did not come to an agreement

DBasia.news – The turmoil that occurred in Barcelona has not stopped. Most recently, the Blaugrana’s management’s planned pay cut negotiations were rejected by the players.

During the corona virus pandemic, Barcelona has been overcome by a financial crisis. The Blaugrana lost revenues amounted to 300 million euros.

Losses with these amount certainly has a big impact on the club’s balance sheet. Barcelona management must cut their expenses to balance it.

One way is of course by cutting the salaries of the players. They hope to save expenses of up to 191 million euros by implementing this policy.

However, management cannot simply implement this policy. They have to obtain approval from the players if they don’t want to be get in trouble with the law.

Unfortunately the players did not welcome this plan. Various negotiations carried out between the two sides ultimately came to nothing.

“After several days of intensive negotiating meetings ended, today the parties have ended the consultation period without reaching an agreement,” wrote Barcelona’s official statement.

Barcelona wants to cut the salaries of a number of its stars by varying amounts. Lionel Messi, who is the player with the highest pay, will reportedly lose 30 percent of his income if an agreement is made.

Barcelona management still hopes the players change their minds. They gave a deadline until November 23 before deciding what to do next.
