DBasia.news – Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu finally opened up regarding Lionel Messi’s situation at his club after the star had wanted to leave.
Some time ago, Messi made a scene by telling the club about his desire to leave Camp Nou this summer.
After it was confirmed that Messi could only leave if a club was willing to redeem a clause worth 700 million euros, La Pulga finally decided to stay.
In his admission, Messi admitted that he was disappointed with Bartomeu who did not keep his promise to allow himself to leave for another club at the end of each season.
Bartomeu who was cornered finally emphasized that his side would try to block Messi’s plan to leave as much as possible.
“I will not enter into any conflict with him. He’s our captain and our team leader,” Bartomeu told TV3.
“I cannot let him leave the club, he is the best player of all time and the team needs him. Having Messi is a guarantee of success,” he added.
“We have seen him speak on the pitch and we have moved on from the [Messi’s transfer] saga. We have to congratulate ourselves for Messi staying and for how he has behaved in the last few days. The best players in the world should stay at our house, “he stated.
Now Bartomeu is back in the spotlight with a no-trust motion in his leadership. Bartomeu could immediately be removed from the presidency. However, Bartomeu emphasized that he did not really think about it.
“The board of directors and I will continue to work to ensure we have the most competitive team,” said Bartomeu.
“We will talk again after the vote was passed but for now nobody intends to quit. The club will not stop and we will continue to work, we have many problems to solve,” he concluded.
