Bringing in Giroud, Maldini explains the reason AC Milan still signs old bombers

DBasia.news – AC Milan’s sporting director, Paolo Maldini, revealed the reason why the Rossoneri continued to sign the old bomber, Olivier Giroud, from Chelsea. AC Milan will soon bring in Chelsea’s top scorer in the 2020-2021 Champions League with six goals, Olivier Giroud.

Milan has been targeting Giroud since the winter of 2020. But the player at that time chose to extend his contract at Chelsea.

More than a year later, Milan still wanted Giroud. That’s what made the Rossoneri willing to spend 2 million euros to redeem him from Chelsea.

“Olivier is a champion and the new winner of the Champions League. He will arrive tomorrow,” Maldini told DAZN.

The decision to bring in Giroud is quite surprising because Milan already has Zlatan Ibrahimovic. These two players do have similar game characters.

But Maldini had a special reason behind the purchase of Giroud. He considered the 34 year old striker’s experience would be very useful for Milan’s young players.

“He is a very reliable player. We need experienced players like him because Milan are the youngest team in Serie A,” he added.

Milan does have to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2021-2022 season. Stefano Pioli’s team for the first time since 2014 will return to the Champions League.
