Bruno Fernandes’ free kick can beat Liverpool

DBasia.news – Bruno Fernandes became a hero of Manchester United when he met Liverpool in the fourth round of the 2020-2021 FA Cup. He scored his team’s winning goal from a direct free kick.

In a match that took place at Old Trafford, Monday (25/1) am, WIB, Manchester United won 3-2. This result is enough to bring the Red Devils to the next round as well as get rid of their rivals.

The two teams were involved in a pretty interesting goal chasing action. Two goals from Mohamed Salah were able to be replied to by Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.

It was at 2-2 that Fernandes came off the bench to save the hosts. He then confirmed Manchester United’s victory in the 78th minute.

Manchester United was awarded a free kick in front of Liverpool’s penalty box. Fernandes, who advanced as the executor, mercilessly fired a hard shot into the right corner of the goal without Alisson Becker anticipating.

Interestingly, the goal was not just speculation. There is a lot of work in the special workout that Fernandes puts in to execute free kicks.

“Almost every day (I practice free kicks), sometimes he (Solskjaer) had to kick me out of the training ground to stop,” Fernandes told MUTV.

“I always handle situations like that, I like to watch and learn from Juan (Mata). He’s a great specialist, Juan and I often train with Rashy, Alex (Telles), Fred.”

“Edi (Cavani) before the free kick told me to drive the ball hard at the side of the goalkeeper. I tried it and it worked,” he added.

This is indeed not Fernandes’ first free kick goal with Manchester United. He already did so against Bournemouth last season.

However, Fernandes’ free kick execution has indeed gotten better in the last few matches. He also almost broke into Liverpool’s goal in the same way when he visited Anfield last week.

This is Fernandes’ new weapon that benefits Manchester United. Now he is not only good at executing penalties, but also free kicks.

“We have a good free-kick taker but it depends on the moment. I feel good when I do it,” he concluded.
