Champions League Final Potentially Attended by Spectators at the Stadium

DBasia.news – UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin is continuing to hold meetings for the chance for spectators at the stadium during the Champions League final this season to be held in Lisbon, Portugal.

UEFA had just confirmed that the Champions League will resume in August, after being suspended due to the Corona virus pandemic. But there are still questions regarding the possibility of holding a match in front of an audience in the stadium.

Currently the Portuguese government is still banning the presence of spectators in the stadium in football matches. But Ceferin seems to still hope that there will be positive developments related to the COVID-19 situation, which allows supporters in the stadium during the final.

“We don’t know yet if it would only be local fans, or without spectators, or even fans from different clubs can come to the venue,” Ceferin said as quoted by SportsMole.

“So far, if we have to decide now, then we will play without spectators. We have to wait first because the situation changes every day, we have to see how things are in August.”

“The start of the top eight is still almost two months away and remember what the situation was like two months ago in Europe. The situation has changed but we will make a decision before the draw,” he added.

The draw for the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Champions League, plus the Europa League, is planned to take place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on July 10.
