DBasia.news – Chelsea will play the Club World Cup semifinal match on Wednesday (9/2) night WIB. In the match held at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the Blues will be challenged by Al-Hilal.
Good news for Chelsea, for the semifinal match they were able to play Mason Mount, who seemed unable to play due to injury.
Mount suffered an injury in the FA Cup match against Plymouth last weekend. At that time Mount had to be withdrawn in extra time and replaced by Saul Niguez.
Chelsea assistant coach, Arno Michels, stated that Mason Mount felt pain in his leg.
“We will monitor him. There will be further examinations. Hopefully the injury is not bad, but now I can not say much on the situation,” said Michels at the time.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has still included Mason Mount in the team for the Club World Cup. Mount also missed Chelsea’s first training session in the United Arab Emirates. However, now Mount has been able to return to training.
Chelsea would only lose Reece James and Edouard Mendy in the Club World Cup semifinals. James, who has just recovered from an injury, is said to be still absent from the training session.
Meanwhile, Edouard Mendy will most likely only join if Chelsea reach the final. Mendy is still in his country, Senegal, after winning the Africa Cup of Nations.
For Chelsea, this is the second time appearing in the Club World Cup. In 2012, they failed to win after being defeated by Corinthians in the final.
