Chelsea competes with Newcastle in the hunt for Kieran Trippier

DBasia.news – Shortly after the new winter transfer window opened, Chelsea immediately moved. The Blues are reportedly trying to hijack Newcastle United’s main target, Kieran Trippier.

Trippier is reportedly just one step away from becoming Newcastle’s first signing under Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Atletico Madrid as the owner is willing to release him at a decent price.

On the other hand, Trippier is indeed interested in returning to a career in England since last summer. He had been wanted by Manchester United even though no agreement has materialized.

Newcastle and Atletico are in negotiations. Money shouldn’t be an issue for The Magpies.

At this moment Chelsea have tried to get ahead. Thomas Tuchel’s side do need a new full-back after Reece James and Ben Chilwell have been sidelined through injury.

According to the Guardian report, Chelsea are willing to compete with Newcastle’s offer. The value of the player is predicted to be in the range of 25 million pounds.

Chelsea’s maneuver is certainly a serious threat to Newcastle. Trippier could turn away because of the bigger title chances.

Diego Simeone as Atletico coach himself will not hold back Trippier’s departure. That is, the player is given the freedom to determine his future.

“Trippier now has to decide whether he wants to leave or not. We will move after his decision,” said Simeone.

Chelsea is certainly a more promising choice for Trippier to develop his career. But the temptation of high salaries from Newcastle is still possible.
