DBasia.news – Wolverhampton’s match against Chelsea at the Molineux Stadium continues despite Chelsea’s request for postponement. Chelsea had asked the Premier League to postpone the match as they believe there was an increase in the positive cases of Covid-19 in their camp.
Sky Sports reported that Chelsea’s request for a postponement of the match was submitted by Chelsea on Saturday (18/12) night. The following morning, the Premier League rejected Chelsea’s request and decided the match against Wolves would still be played.
“It doesn’t matter whether we can understand or not (the Premier League decision), because we don’t understand. This is hard for us. We really care about the health of the players,” said Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel before the game.
“Every day there are positive results coming in. How do we stop this if we sit for three hours on the bus. How can we stop this if we meet and pretend like it’s nothing.”
“We are disappointed, a little angry.”
According to Tuchel, there are currently seven positive cases inside Chelsea. Kai Haverztz and Loftus-Cheek were among the positive and missed the game. For the match against Wolves, Chelsea only listed six substitutes, including two goalkeepers.
With players who are positive or have just recovered from the virus, plus those who are absent due to injury, Chelsea’s strength is certainly not optimal. That’s why they asked for the game to be postponed.
“We are very disappointed to know our application was rejected. We feel that we have strong reasons, reasons on the basis of health and safety of players,” stated a Chelsea spokesman.
