Chelsea officially appoint Graham Potter to replace Thomas Tuchel

DBasia.news – Chelsea management did not take long to negotiate with Graham Potter to replace Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was sacked after Chelsea lost to Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb in the first match of Group E of the Champions League. In addition, Chelsea’s poor start in the Premier League and Tuchel’s failure to maximize the performance of a number of players are said to have played a role in his dismissal.

Potter was able to bring Birghton & Hove Albion to an impressive result at the start of the 2022/23 season with four wins, and a draw and a loss each, so that they sit in fourth place in the standings.

The 47-year-old set aside names such as Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane who are currently unemployed. Sporting Lisbon coach, Ruben Amorim, also briefly entered Chelsea’s radar.

“I am proud and excited to represent Chelsea, a fantastic club. “I am keen to partner with the new owners of Chelsea, and look forward to working with the players to develop a team and culture that our fans can be proud of.”

“I would also like to thank Brighton & Hove Albion for giving me this opportunity, and in particular Tony Bloom and all the players, staff and supporters for their support during my time at the club.”

Meanwhile, club chairman Todd Boehly said that the vision and mission shown by Potter was in line with Chesela. Boehly also hopes that Potter can make a good impact as he did when dealing with Brighton.

“We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a manager of proven quality, and an innovator in the Premier League that fits our vision,” said Boehly.

“He has extraordinary abilities that will make Chelsea a more successful club. He had a huge impact at his previous club and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea. We give full support to him, his coaching team and the team in realizing their potential.”
