DBasia.news – It looks like Chelsea are still dissatisfied with their attack line, especially since the Blues have also released Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.
The London club are on the hunt for new players, and it is reported that they are targeting Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
According to European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have contacted Auba about a possible transfer to Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea are now considering Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a potential new striker. Discussions have started on the player’s side, and there is still no official offer to Barcelona,” wrote Romano.
“He’s one of the names on Chelsea’s list after the club also met [Benjamin] Sesko and other targets.”
Indeed, the 33-year-old player has only been at Camp Nou for half a season and is still under contract until 2025.
However, the arrival of Robert Lewandowski to Barca this summer could threaten the position of Auba, who scored 13 goals in 23 games last season.
Although he can also play as a winger, Barca already have a number of players in that position namely Raphinha, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres.
Auba is not Chelsea’s only target this summer, but his presence is expected to add to the Blues’ attacking power, with Lukaku being labeled a flop during the 2021/22 season.
