DBasia.news – Chelsea are trying to hijack the hunt for Manchester United in Frankie de Jong’s transfer saga. However, Chelsea were advised not to interfere in pursuing the Dutch midfielder.
De Jong’s transfer saga became one of the main topics in the transfer market this summer. Manchester United’s efforts to hijack him from Barcelona never yielded results.
Manchester United are actually ready to pay a high price to use the services of De Jong. Moreover, the presence of the 25-year-old player is highly desired by Erik ten Hag.
But negotiations for De Jong have been made complicated by Barcelona’s 17 million euro debt that has yet to be paid. The player asked for this issue to be resolved before leaving the Camp Nou.
Chelsea ar reportedly ready to pay Barcelona’s debt to De Jong. This was done to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge.
But the purchase of De Jong is considered not to mean much for Chelsea. This was expressed by his former player, William Gallas.
“De Jong is a great player, young but has a lot of experience in the way he plays. However, I don’t think that Chelsea should choose someone with that profile,” Gallas told Mundo Deportivo.
“Chelsea already have a player like him. They should choose someone like Casemiro or Rodri instead.”
Chelsea does have a number of players whose game character is similar to De Jong. Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic are two of them.
While Chelsea only has N’Golo Kante as a fighter midfielder. The French player was certainly unreliable throughout the season.
“They (Casemiro and Rodri) are strong people who protect the defenders. That’s why I would not sign De Jong because they already have similar players,” state Gallas.
