DBasia.news – Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, had contacted two other coaches before finally appointing Graham Potter as the new manager.
Chelsea hijacked Potter from Brighton as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel. The first name as well as bringing his coaching staff while with The Seagulls.
As reported by the Portuguese media, Sporting Lisbon coach, Ruben Amorim, was contacted by Chelsea ahead of Tuchel’s dismissal.
Amorim was in the spotlight after successfully ending Sporting’s 19-year title drought when he led Sebastian Coates and his team to win the Portuguese League last season.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss, Mauricio Pochettino is another high-caliber candidate that Boehly has contacted.
The Argentine has remained out of work since leaving the Parc des Princes earlier this summer and is believed to be waiting for the right opportunity to return to coaching.
Recent rumors suggest that Pochettino has a chance to coach Leicester City if Brendan Rodgers is chosen as Potter’s successor at Brighton.
Meanwhile, Brighton is now being temporarily led by senior midfielder Adam Lallana who will double as player and coach.
