DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Christian Eriksen, will end his contract at the end of the season with Tottenham. Eriksen has been watched by big clubs, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Eriksen, 27, is like a ‘time bomb’ at Tottenham as his departure was inevitable. The reason being, until now there has been no news regarding the contract extension of the former Ajax Amsterdam player. If this situation continues, Eriksen will be able to choose a new club in January 2020.
Tottenham had originally wanted funds from Eriksen’s transfer if someone had purchased him in January 2020 (winter transfer market). However, if no one offers it in January, then they are willing to release Eriksen free at the end of the season.
The Danish player is seen to be out of focus or fully committed to defending Spurs. One of the causes of the decline in the performance of Spurs this season was allegedly due to speculation of Eriksen’s transfer.
Three big European clubs are ready to accommodate Eriksen if no agreement is reached regarding a new contract. Man United, Bayern and Madrid are interested in using Eriksen’s services. The question is “which club is the most likely to recruit him?”
Manchester United
In the past Tottenham ‘kindly’ released Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United. But this time there is a chance the situation will be different. Tottenham are certainly aware that releasing Eriksen to Man United will only strengthen the rival teams.
The situation can still be controlled by Spurs if United provided an offer in January 2020. But if United waits until the end of the season, Spurs have no right to prohibit Eriksen from heading to rival teams.
Nevertheless, it is challenging for Eriksen to head to Old Trafford as United are in a steep decline in the current Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era. Eriksen certainly does not want to play for a team that is struggling to find consistency and winning trophies.
Bayern Munich
Eriksen has never played in Germany and he would be very fitting for Die Roten. However, if Bayern recruited him, then there is a possibility that Eriksen’s role would not be as big as it is at Tottenham because now Bayern possesess Philippe Coutinho who is in fact an attacking midfield.
Coutinho, plus Thiago Alcantara, is good enough for Niko Kovac’s team to have. So, theres a slim chance of Eriksen joining the Bavarian Giant.
Real Madrid
The club who is most likely to recruit Eriksen. As Real Madrid is looking for a new midfielder to be prepared as a successor to Luka Modric. Eriksen is an alternative if they failed to recruit Paul Pogba.
But there are other problems if Eriksen joined Madrid. Competition in attacking midfield positions will be tighter as the club already has Isco, Marco Asensio, James Rodriguez, Federico Valverde, and Dani Ceballos who are currently on loan at Arsenal. The entry of Eriksen will certainly add to the fierce competition in the area.
