DBasia.news – Christian Pulisic, who just joined Chelsea, has begun to show his adaptation to the style of football in England. According to Cesar Azpilicueta, the last two Chelsea matches were proof that Pulisic’s adaptation process had gone smoothly.
Pulisic moved to London last summer after successfully straddling his status as one of the most promising young players circulating in Europe with Borussia Dortmund.
However, Pulisic’s playing minutes with Chelsea this season are still fairly limited. The United States national team star has just recorded six appearances in the Premier League with a total of 313 minutes played with the contribution of two assists.
At European level, Pulisic was played by Lampard in the Champions League against Ajax Amsterdam and he managed to create an assist on Michy Batshuayi’s decisive goal.
Responding to Pulisic’s situation, Azpilicueta assessed that the star was still in a smooth adaptation process.
“Christian worked very hard. We all understood, there were only 11 starters and seven substitute players on the bench,” Azpi stated.
“So it’s a fair play for Christian as he continues to work hard. In the last two matches he has risen from the bench to make a significant impact and change the match.”
“Last weekend he almost created assists, he troubled opponents, created opportunities. Then against Ajax he continued to provide assists.”
“We all work like a team, we know each team member has an important role and we all work for the same goal.”
“Christian is only 21 years old and he has been playing since a young age with Dortmund. But England is different. Don’t forget, the speed of playing here is different but so far he has always performed well.”
“Sometimes you need more time to adapt but Christian has done it in the last two matches. That’s what we need from Christian, but we know there is no need to rush when working with young players.”
“The Chelsea squad is still young but we have worked hard since pre-season and the only way to improve the quality of the team is to show a work ethic in every training session and match.”
“I am glad to see Christian because now is a good moment for him.”
