DBasia.news – The fate of Quique Setien in Barcelona was in question after President Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed Xavi Hernandez would return to Camp Nou as coach.
Quique Setien’s future as Barcelona coach is in question. The reason, Barca’s game is still inconsistent. In fact, Barca overtook Real Madrid in LaLiga.
One of the figures who is a strong candidate for Setien’s successor is Xavi Hernandez. Currently, Xavi is coaching the Qatari club, Al Sadd.
“Xavi will be Barcelona’s coach sooner or later. However, at the moment we are not looking for a coach. We are with Quique Setien,” Bartomeru told TV3.
“Quique Setien will be the team coach in the Champions League and the last two matches in LaLiga,” he added.
“We have a very unusual season. We will play in August and he will be the coach. If we overcome Napoli, we will be in Lisbon.”
“Our desire is to fulfill the contract. We would head to Setien’s house to talk about the future, plans for next season. He might be there and I’m very interested in hearing what he thinks,” he stated.
Bartomeu believes Setien would build the future of Barcelona. There are a number of players who are ready to be polished by Setien.
“He has a lot of time with Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati. We have seen Pedri and Francisco Trincao, there is hope.”
Meanwhile, Xavi welcomed the plan to return to Barcelona. Right now, he is overwriting his ability to mix tactics.
